The Steps on St. Andrews

Status: In Predevelopment

1808 S St Andrews Place
Los Angeles, CA 90019

The Steps on St Andrews will be a 20-unit affordable and supportive housing development. Steps is a milestone in CBH’s ongoing efforts to deliver housing faster and at lower cost: it will be CBH’s first supportive housing project that does not use the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), which shaves roughly two years off the development process. It will also cut costs by not having a bulky concrete parking structure. It is currently projected to have a mixture of seven exceptionally affordable units set aside for households making up to 15% AMI, five units at 30% of AMI, three at 45% of AMI, four at 60% of AMI, and one manager’s unit. The project will consist of a gut-renovated house and a new, three-story wing in the back. The two will be connected via a one-story community room with a rooftop deck where residents will be able to congregate. The existing house will hold eight units, while the new wing will hold 12 units. There will be a large front yard overlooked by a large front porch, and we will plant citrus trees in the front and back yards. The site is located in the heart of central Los Angeles’ dense network of high-frequency bus lines, and with no on-site parking and a tenant population that rides transit at high rates, the project will contribute to making LA a more transit-oriented city. Supportive services will be provided by The People Concern, a long-established and well-respected service provider.
